Iittala can be easily reached by both train and car. Commuter trains from both Tampere and Helsinki stop at the Iittala train station which is only 700 m away from the centre of Iittala Village. You can find timetables on vr.fi/en. Local buses stop less than 500 m away, and there is plenty of toll-free parking space in Iittala Village (Address: Könnölänmäentie 2, 14500 Iittala).
Iittala Village is about a 2 km ride from the Helsinki-Tampere road (road no 3/E12). Take the exit to “Iittala”, and from the village center follow the directions to ”Iittalan lasimäki”. We are at a distance of 118 km from Helsinki, 25 km from Hämeenlinna, and 55 km from Tampere.
Open all year
Iittala Village is open all year round, though the exact opening hours of individual shops and exhibitions may slightly vary. They can be found on the individual sites of the businesses.
Accessibility
From the parking area, you can find an accessible way to the courtyard area on the left hand side of the white building. The destination area is not completely accessible but Iittala Outlet and the summer boutique Pukimo POP UP are accessible. The Iittala Glass Museum and the Iittala Centre of Naive Art are partly accessible.
An accessible toilet / nursery room is situated in the red building of Pukimo POP UP.
Iittala at your service
Iittala is officially part of the city of Hämeenlinna, with a population of about 2500. There are e.g. a pharmacy, a grocery store and a library along with excellent outdoor recreation areas in the village. Also the Glass Capital has a lunch area and a lean-to, wooden shelter. An ATM can be found at the Shell gas station along the highway (road no 3/E12).
Lunch is served daily at Fazer Amica (addr. Sauvalanaukio 4) You can also take a cup of coffee at Iittala Outlet (daily 10 am – 6 pm). Groups can also make a lunch reservation in advance at the Könnölä Holiday Farm
Accommodation can be found e.g. at Guesthouse Solbacka, at the Jalavaniemi Camping Area and at the Könnölä Holiday Farm which caters for celebrations as well. The Iittala Hall hosts sports events and besides the outdoors, one can have a peaceful break in the Kalvola church. Local history museum, right next to the church, is open on Sundays in the summertime.
